The RCH has cared for the children and young people of Victoria since it was founded in 1870. As a tertiary and quaternary centre, the RCH cares for the most critically ill and medically complex paediatric patients in Victoria. In addition to providing a full range of clinical services, the hospital also supports many health promotion and prevention programs. With more than 6,000 staff, 12 wards and 350 beds, the RCH is the major specialist paediatric hospital in Victoria, and also provides care for children and young people from Tasmania, southern New South Wales and other states around Australia and overseas. We are the state’s busiest paediatric Emergency Department, often experiencing more than 300 presentations on any given day. The RCH is committed to working with health services across the state and plays a significant role in many critical state and nationwide services. We work collaboratively with hospitals to deliver the right care, in the right place, at the right time, for the benefit of all Victorian children.

I’m so astounded by these “self-entitled” reviews. Here you have a world-class hospital with the best doctors and amazing staff providing leading health care FOR FREE. Where in the world do you get that? Try the USA? You’ll need to get a second mortgage. This is one of the best hospitals in the world that took such great care of my daughter when she was there. Thank you.

I cannot express enough gratitude to the Royal Children's Hospital for the exceptional care they provided to my sons. During our nearly 3-week stay, the nurses and doctors went above and beyond to ensure our comfort and well-being, and their warmth and kindness were truly appreciated. Though there were a few delays with our procedure, the understanding and compassion shown by the hospital staff were remarkable. We fully comprehend that there are more critical cases that demand immediate attention, and the hospital's dedication to prioritizing those cases reaffirmed our trust in their expertise and commitment to patient care. Overall, our experience at the Royal Children's Hospital was incredibly positive, and we are very happy with the care our sons received. The staff's welcoming nature and the level of attention they provided to our family made a significant difference during a challenging time. Thank you to the entire team at the Royal Children's Hospital for their outstanding efforts and commitment to providing excellent medical care. We would highly recommend this hospital to anyone in need of specialized pediatric care.
