About clinic

The LUKS Wolhusen is an integral part of the integrated supply of the LUKS and offers the population in the catchment area an extended basic supply. In addition to general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics/gynecology and acute geriatrics, this includes a wide range of specialist disciplines such as cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, rheumatology, endocrinology, pneumology, angiology and neurology, and is completed by ENT, urology and spinal surgery. These are partially covered during special consultation hours by independent doctors from the Lucerne location. LUKS Wolhusen is technologically state-of-the-art in all areas. It has all the relevant imaging processes, including MRI. The two main areas of orthopedics and acute geriatrics show a continuously high occupancy rate with a nationwide reputation. Acute geriatrics is an important part of the certified old-age accident center at LUKS.

My husband had a day surgery in this hospital in mid 2018. Were happy with how the surgery went well, he was well attended and the surgeon really did a good job. All praises to them. Just maybe a slight comment on the post surgery part that I feel it's better for the patients to be provided with food(even light) especially if they did fasting for the surgery. Perhaps they have this now, that will be five stars.

My friend had knee surgery at Luks Wolhusen. When he came to the department before the operation, they were not well prepared and did not know which room he would get. From my point of view a no go. The operation went well and we were informed about the course of the operation and my friend's condition immediately after the operation. Then the difficulties started in the department. The care immediately after the operation in the recovery room was good and friendly. When I visited my friend in the evening, the remains of the oxygen tube from my nose were still lying on the floor in the room, which is not at all hygienically justifiable. The care on the following days was carried out by me as a friend, because my friend had not yet washed when I visited him. On the 2nd post op day my friend was told that he could go home the next day without being able to prepare for it and he didn't feel able to go home yet. From my point of view, it is an absolute cheek to send patients home just because of a lack of space and staff. The operating doctor agreed to release my friend a day later, but the resident did not want this. Afterwards we learned that the band-aids that were put on the wounds were wrong and these band-aids were never changed in the hospital either. When my friend went to change these patches at home, the threads stuck to the patch and my friend was in excruciating pain. At the check-up appointment with the family doctor, the patches were removed with great pain and the threads had to be loosened from the patch with the help of a scalpel so that the threads were not torn away. Then the correct plasters were glued to the seam by the family doctor. I work in nursing myself and I always find it frightening when such situations happen. From my point of view, the patients should not suffer from the lack of staff under any circumstances. My opinion of the Wolhusen cantonal hospital has now deteriorated drastically.

Super friendly, patient and competent! Did a great job of sewing my severed finger back on. Despite the painful occasion, the short stay was very pleasant given the circumstances. Thank you!
