About clinic

Carmel Medical Center is the crown sitting atop the Carmel Mountain range; the urban and rural healthcare provider for a million Israelis, serving Haifa, the coastal and inland environs. The 477 bed general hospital is nationally renowned for its keen medical services, high patient satisfaction ratings and leading medical teams of physicians, nurses and technicians. Since the 1940's, Carmel has been elegantly serving the healthcare needs of Jews, Muslims, Christians and Druze who flock to the hilltop, placing their trust and their lives in Carmel hands. Under the ever-growing threat of long range missile attacks from Lebanon in the north, Carmel continues to excel with medical knowledge deeply rooted in academia, linked to the Rappaport Faculty of Medicine of the Technion. Medical students, interns and residents learn under the watchful eyes of consummate Carmel surgeons, internists, radiologists and specialists in emergency medicine, pulmonology, urology, ophthalmology, cardiology and gastroenterology. Add to this Carmel's commitment to medical research and it is easy to understand why northern Israel so depends on this medical institution … the crown on the mountain top. Carmel Medical Center receives 82,000 ER visits annually, while admitting 32,000 patients for a combined total of 150,000 hospitalization days. More than 20,000 surgical procedures are performed annually throughout 13 operating rooms, including 3 OR's in the newly renovated Day Hospital. Ambulatory yearly visits to the Carmel outpatient clinics equal another 126,000.

The medics here are awesome. One of the best crews in terms of talent, dedication and efficiency I've seen during my lifetime. I hope that the day I die, I'd have it easily. Otherwise, I'd consider it a luck if those guys and girls would handle my last moments. 10/10

If i could give 0 stars I would. This hospital is terrible in the surgical department. Specially if you dont speak Hebrew, you are absolutely not told anything about what is happening or what is going to happen in your stay. Although I came in through the emergency room and it wasn’t as bad and that is saying a lot since it was my first time being treated in the waiting hall the employees were decent. But once i was admitted for an infection i was made to believe in the emergency room that i would go home the next day. Once i arrived no one seemed to be able to speak to me, and although my husband translated at first he had to go home to our kids which we made them aware of. But when he left, the panic started to set in almost immediately when i noticed my nurse was hurrying through every patient not even caring that she was leaving huge amounts of air in my iv line and leaving my iv open for hours after it was finished and although i would call her and ask her to please take care of it she would come in annoyed like she was doing me a favor. But the worse part was the doctors doing their mini rounds that took one look at me spoke only to the student doctors (i assume thats who they were i dont know to this day) and walked out on both days of my stay. And even though on the first day i let it go because i was too ill to ask, i could not let it go another time because i was awake and feeling better when i asked a question about their plan on how to treat my condition and how long i was going to stay because i had my small children at home. And the doctor in charge suddenly snaps at me because, and these are her words here, she didn’t have time to answer my questions and she had a lot of patients and she could only give me 5-10 mins and that is after i asked a few questions which literally only took 2 mins (i know because i had just started a call with my husband to help me in case i needed translation). Then she walked out all offended and obviously furious. After this i just couldn’t trust anyone in this area to have my best interest in mind and i immediately wanted to leave. And even to do this i had to speak to this incredibly rude doctor who immediately snapped and started yelling at me what was happening to which i answered, i just wanted someone to tell me what is happening and just yelled at me “what do you want from me!”, over and over until i walked out and waited for my Against Medical Advise form then i signed and had to wait almost 2 hours for my discharge papers. So if you are feeling sick and want to be treated with a little compassion while you are ill go to another hospital and probably avoid any doctors named Mary in this surgery department or you know what you can expect.

Terrible place. In emergency we was more than 4 hours, and we was alone. My wife was in condition when she can be only in horizontal position. But personal says that we can't use bed. This clinic and clalit - never again!
