St. Boniface Hospital has been providing leadership in health care on behalf of Manitobans since it was first established by the Grey Nuns in 1871.The second largest hospital in Manitoba, it provides community outreach programs, ambulatory care programs and inpatient services. As one of Manitoba’s largest health care facilities, St. Boniface maintains a campus comprised of more than 180 departments and services, located in seven separate buildings and situated on 20 acres of land. We also operate several satellite facilities located at off campus sites, and maintain close relationships with other health facilities and well as the health facilities and agencies of the Grey Nun network. As a tertiary care facility, the Hospital maintains a core of clinical activities to support its overall leadership, including: anaesthesia, diagnostic imaging, family practice, geriatric medicine, laboratory medicine, medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, pathology, outpatient pediatrics, psychiatry, surgery. These are grouped under eight clinical programs: Cardiac Sciences, Emergency, Family Medicine, Medicine, Mental Health, Rehab/Geriatrics, Surgery and Woman and Child. The Hospital has demonstrated provincial leadership and significant expertise in the areas of cardiac sciences, emergency medicine, gastrointestinal disease, neurosciences, oncology, palliative care, perinatal care, geriatric medicine, family medicine. St. Boniface employs 3,500 staff in a variety of support capacities. In addition, some 340 doctors have admitting privileges at SBH. They are appointed by the Board of Directors following the recommendation of the Medical Advisory Committee. Peer reviews and professional care evaluations by the medical staff are used to examine performance of medical staff members. The Research Centre has more than 190 research and support personnel working in it with a budget of $7 million. Its research programs are directly linked to clinical departments in the Hospital: infectious diseases, respiratory medicine, nephrology, cardiology, clinical nursing research, cancer research.

I know the health care system is a mess, wait times are horrendous, and so on. This is not anyone at the hospital's fault. I must say, the nurse I had was WONDERFUL. Very comforting, kind, reassuring, gentle, and thoughtful. Thank you, Carol! All the techs were sweet and terrific as well. I certainly don't want to go back anytime soon, but the staff here is marvelous!

Best hospital in Winnipeg and the staff at every level are amazing and most compassionate. They do everything possible to work with you and help you on your road to recovery. At another hospital in Winnipeg I had a misdiagnosis and than went by ambulance again to same other hospital, got sent to the waiting room barely dressed as was at night and was told no blankets in the waiting room, than was poorly treated while there and got discharged too soon and told I was not expected to get well. This hospital was my rescuer. They took the time and diagnostics to help me get well enough to get home and schedule a surgery as an out patient. They took the time to make sure I could eat and go to the bathroom before discharging me. Definitely the place to go no matter what the wait times look like.

Terrible service. Fetus Ultrasound was half an hour later than my initial appointment. The technician was not considerable or very respectful. Sounded like she would rather order me than asked to do certain movements or change positions, she was also hurting me during the procedure pushing on the stomach too intensely.
