The roots of the Markhot Ferenc hospital go back several centuries. The natural source, the medicinal water, on which the medieval Turkish Bath was built, also played a role in the creation of the healing hospital. Large-scale developments were the most characteristic of the recent history of the hospital. After the Second World War, improvements began in the merged hospital, departments were created, the central laboratory, the clinic, the surgical operating room, the emergency care, and the new psychiatry and internal medicine department were completed. The hospital took the name of Ferenc Markhot in 1989, paying respect to the memory of the great doctor and hospital builder. On the 230th anniversary of medical education in Eger, in 1999, the Markhot Ferenc Hospital became the practicing hospital of the Medical and Health Sciences Center of the University of Debrecen, thus rejoining the domestic medical education. Our clinical research is also outstanding in the national context, the only clinical pharmacologist in Heves County is dr. Chief physician Eleonóra Harcsa, who has participated in preliminary clinical trials of currently marketed drugs on several occasions.

Bad experience with emergency department as tourists, no english speakers except a doctor who suggested that 'this is an emergency department, you know, cardio issues, etc'. We decided to quit 'the hospital' without assistance, despite white green yellow red board is showing that a green issue, as ours was, has to be processed normally. This is not acceptable in Europe, nor in Russia or ex Soviet Countries we had such troubles.

In such hard time I want to say thank you very much to these guys. Despite of crowded queues, everything was fast and safe. They have a lot of things to do under the pressure and risk but they are quite polite and friendly. For foreigners as well. My doctor Nagy Ágnes speaks English well and that was so supportive to understand each other and solve my problem. Thank you, Dr. Nagy. Yes, building itself need to be renovated but staff is very good.

We made a forced visit to the Emergency Department and then to Neurology. Everyone I met was a kind, knowledgeable professional who performed his work conscientiously. Thanks.
