About clinic

The UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital is a private hospital that has been, since 1951, a reference hospital facility for both local and international patients, from over 70 different nationalities. Today it’s part of the UPMC (University of Pittsburgh Medical Center) group, a non-profit global healthcare company among the largest in the United States. Located in Rome city center, only a stone’s throw away from the Trastevere neighborhood, UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital sits at the top of the Gianicolo Hill, with 82 beds, highly specialized surgical and diagnostic equipment, 6 operating rooms, a postoperative Intensive Care Unit and a wide array of specialty medical departments and services – amongst which the advanced International and Tropical Medicine and Microbiology Laboratory, the Imaging Center and a Physio Center with its Hydrokinesis pool. The private hospital also offers an Emergency first-aid service for both in-patients and out-patients (treating urgent but non-life-threatening conditions) as well as bespoke therapeutics. UPMC Salvator Mundi International Hospital operates 24 hours a day and has an agreement with the major international insurance companies.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. DO NOT COME HERE. I had a terrible experience at SMIH. I thought that I would be in good care as the embassy and my university recommend them as the best place to go while abroad in Rome. I had little to no translators the entire time and was very confused as to what I was being given and uncomfortable about it in all honesty. I have NO privacy at all in my room as nurses would come barging in whenever they needed to without a knock which was also very uncomfortable to me. They did not accommodate to me and I had to practically beg for water and help as my fever started to rise. They were also not helpful when I called translators to help me during the process. The nurses were very vague and rude. I used the best Italian I could and would use google translate to help me with the rest and it still unfortunately not good enough. I was fortunate enough to find a Spanish speaking nurse and it was the first time I had some form of comfort. The main doctor seeing me only saw me once and it was an u pleasant visit as it was just to scold me for wanting to leave. Then when I finally was able to be discharged the nurses and staff were rude, did not give me my diagnosis, my results, follow up or discharge papers. They literally told me “no go home”. Already being frustrated with the treatment I received, alone and confused being in a completely different country trying to revive help I did as they said and just left. Which then later caused me a lot of issues when trying to revive help else where.

My mother became ill while we were traveling in Italy. Our tour guide sent us to Salvatore Mundi where my mother received excellent care. Y the staff, nurses and doctor. They took care of her right away and the costs of tests, medicine and a private room on a virtually private floor cost a mere $16! Wish we had that type of care and cost here in the States.

This hospital is amazing. They are always timely and take the best care of their patients. I love all the nurses and doctors. They are kinda and attentive. I really appreciate everyone here. Hearts ❤️
