They're supposed to make your life easier but are actually an excuse to overcharge you without ever helping when needed. I've ended up paying over 500 USD to see a doctor and get some exams done, probably double of what I'd pay in Germany. They're very blunt about it and wrote to me they apply different tarifs to foreigners.
