Poor quality of service from the medical lab team and patient services. Contacting via WhatsApp and Email gave imposible results after trying to reach them for weeks for a quote for labs. They give you differing information (via whatsapp they gave me a quote and then almost doubled the quote estimate via email - still unexplained). They kept me holding for weeks with no proper response nor matching prices. After waiting I still don't have a full quote for the correct labs.
Calling is also made impossible as whichever option you pick off the menu loops you back through the main menu. I do not recommend planning any tests or labs through them.

absolutely one of the worst experiences I have gone through. This place is a mess, disorganized, rude staff. A terrible experience from beginning to finish. Avoid it au all costs.

If you're traveling and get sick, think hard BEFORE you go there. This "Hospital" will take you for everything you got if you're not Colombian and have private insurance. To be fair, the nursing staff is wonderful, but the doctors are nothing but vultures circling to squeeze as much money out of you in your moment of need. Get local traveller's insurance and avoid this place like the plague!!!!

To consider It is not a clinic! it looks more like a medical union... I only saw one for a nurse with secretarial functions, they are offices with office furniture and diplomas on the walls. Better to evaluate if it is the right place for the need for care, personally even the insurer is wrong to send a patient to this place.

It is the worst "hospital and/or clinic". I had to take my son because he broke his wrist. We arrived yesterday, April 8, around 4 in the afternoon, and to this day, April 9, still does not serve us. The worst thing is that my compensation eps authorized the surgery from the night of April 8th. And when I ask for information they tell me that I have to wait. Since the urgency of my 13-year-old boy with the gout wrist does not present a vital urgency. Ah, they don't perform that kind of surgery at night. Lousy lousy lousy service and not counting the head nurses. that they are super rude

The worst hospital and disastrous care by medical staff and nurses. Last August 6 in the early hours of the morning I went to the emergency room, they took some tests and left me waiting for a long time, without giving me results, despite the severity of my symptoms. I went to look for the doctor who authorized the tests and she answered me very rudely that I had to keep waiting, because she was very busy with a procedure (she was chatting on her cell phone). I had to go to the San Ignacio Hospital and there I had adequate and better care, by far. I do not recommend going there to Hospital San Rafael.

Terrible admin care. There is no real patient ownership and each unit blames the other. There is deep lack of coordination among stakeholders. Patient has been to the hospital 3 times now to get surgery and something always fails because there is lack of coordination and communication between staff.
There is need for a real overhaul. Very sad to see this historically best-in-class hospital treat patients this way.

First off this is the best hospital in Bogota according to the locals and my Colombian friends. I came here on a work trip and had an emergency operation to remove my appendix. I came in at 2am, got the diagnosis at 3:30am and they didn’t operate on me until 12pm. The delay was due to the incompetent hospital admin people dealing with my work insurance. I offered to pay out of pocket to get things rolling but they refused. They told me they don’t want double payment incase the insurance goes through. I definitely suggest bringing a Spanish speaker here if you don’t speed to local language because most of the staff don’t speak english. Before the surgery, I had to sign a bunch of disclaimers and waivers which were all in Spanish. My surgery was great. The surgeon spoke good english and was very professional. He reassured that I’m not going to die. As far as hygiene goes, the facility looks clean except there were a few times I caught my nurses taking my blood and iv out without wearing any gloves. Make sure you have money before coming to the hospital. They wont operate on you until payment is confirmed. Last but not least bring a blanket and pillow so you can sleep on the bench while you wait to be seen. Overall I’m grateful for the nurses and Drs that saved my life. My appendix was on the verge of bursting. I would like to give this place a 5 stars had it not been for the front desk admin people.

I had to get a covid antigen test prior to flying back to the US, and was reading reviews at labs all over Bogota, stating the antigen test took 5-7 days to come back. I was worried that would be the case here, so when we went in, I asked, and they said only 4 hrs at the most (it took about 2 hrs, yay!). The staff was so kind and helpful, even though we understood hardly any Spanish. They were very patient with us and we were able to get all the paperwork filled out without any problems. Also, the antigen test was only 120,000 COP, which was better than anywhere else I had found at the time.

When he would wake up he said they are killing me. They had a tube in his mouth for 3 weeks. When they pulled it out him mouth and tongue were black. I kept asking them why are you drugging him so much. The dr said he needed to rest. The dr quit 1 week before my dad passed. It is the worst place to be.

Foreign and locals please abstain from attending these very old and outdated hospital facilities. I've been a patient in the US, Spain, Germany and Colombia. This is by far one of the most frightening hospitals sub standard even for a tiny 3rd world town. Readers beware. Avoid at all cost, unless of course you happen to be a malpractice attorney.
1. Patient surgery intake. Expect a minimum of 2 hours
2. Nursing and Patient Information Systems. Pre and post surgical nursing staff use notebooks and handwritten notes as a the regular protocol for patient care. Despite revealing allergies with 5 different people and 5 different notebooks, the staff failed to write patient allergies in the surgical board and also failed to place the standard red bracelet. It had to be bluntly requested by the patient in the OR. The nursing staff laughed it off as normal noting it was goog "they" caught it on time. OMG. The nerve.
3. Institutional tardiness. Expect 3-4hour delay past scheduled surgical start time. Do not expect an apology nor a justification for tardiness.
4. During surgery expect nurses to answer questions to family at 8am, 11am 3pm. Should your family happen to run into a nurse and ask a question expect nurses to raise their voice rudely, only to be reminded to wait until the scheduled time. If your family receives a call from the OR team with a request (for information or supplies) and wish for you to ring the door, expect no responses to either of the two doors and one window. A family member witnessed a lady who could not find her father for 2 hours. Whiled the nursing staff dissed her, she had to appeal to a surgeon that was leaving the area. The information systems could not locate the patient. Frightening. Very Frightening.
5. After surgery expect 2 nurses to handle patient care for all 16 ORs. OMG. Frightening very frightening. Little help, fend for yourself.
6. Patient out-take. Expect the process to last a few minutes. But by all means do not expect it dignified changing room and or patient lockers. It's pretty gross
6. One week surgery follow up. Expect two hours wait on the 3rd floor of a brand new building just for check-in. Expect rude and insufficient check-in staff. Then expect another hour for the doctor to see you.
I hope my comments help you make an informed decision. I hope my comments save lives and hardship.
Steer clear if you can. Colombia has great hospitals. This is by fas substandard even for small towns in a 3rd world country.

Horrible, horrible, horrible!!!
I came in yesterday with tachycardia. Doctor had me do 3 cardiograms, 1 X-ray, 2 labwork, and still wanted another labwork when I said NO MORE …this was during a period of 6 hours. Doctor was just testing waters and trying to guess what I had. For all these tests my husband kept going back to cashier to pay first, if not, the test would not be done. Only reason why I came here was cause I was in a taxi and this was closest. But I ended up checking out and going to Country Hospital where I got 100% professional attention and was given accurate diagnosis. Clínica del Occidente is a butcher place with no human touch. You have to pay $500 pesos for toilet paper, and even with this there was none in the dispenser. What kind of higiene place is this?
I saw a unconscious patient come in with family members carrying him cause there are no bed or wheelchair to transport him; he ended up dying.
I learned something from this, if you are visiting Bogota take note of your local hospital to make sure if you ever have to go to one you don’t end up like me.

I was in the emergency department and it was very unfortunate, the attention from the nurses, the window staff and the billing boy, they are a team of indolent, inhumane people, they lack empathy, ethics and have no vocation in what absolute
After enduring the mistreatment of these people, you must wait 4 hours to be seen by a doctor. (Thank God I was treated by a good doctor)
The facilities are unpleasant, everyone is in charge there, but they don't know how to organize themselves and help the patients.

It is a hospital with very good facilities and good medical staff.
It is noticeable that they are trying to improve many aspects, but they have failures at the level of internal logistics, since they frequently drop hospitalized patients hours in advance for diagnostic imaging and other tests, clarifying that in the waiting room for Imaging diagnostic rooms have air conditioning, which ends up making some patients more sick; The truth is that in this regard there is a great deal of disregard for patients and a great lack of organization on the part of the hospital.
There is also a large overpopulation of patients in the emergency room that obviously exceeds the capacity of the hospital, since even in the emergency corridors there are stretchers with patients and companions who do not even have a place to sit.

The Doctors are friendly, the security staff and general services are very attentive.
The nurses, nurses and stretcher bearers are very special, of course there are always different people who attend to them without any kindness or understanding, but it is not generalized.
I thank you in advance for the attention given, interest in attending to my father.

Rude guards that don't know medical status but won't allow access or questions to medical personnel. This goes for guards outside and inside. Doctors do not provide status to patients and send students to relay status. Students can't answer questions. Poor communication and follow up by all personnel which have led to 3 wrong diagnosis by doctors. Once realized we asked and the staff blamed the family members of making up stories and medical visit history missing information. This review is based on the past year with various family members appointments and emergencies I am basing my rating. This rating applies to various areas: emergency room, intensive care, critical area, and maternity ward.
