Unfortunately but I have a pleasure to have surgery on pancreas cancer here. UK NHS said its noopetatable😬. The rooms 10 stars out of 5🙂, super clean, staff constantly checking on you, everything went smooth and pain free(thanks to epidural and painkillers). I have been sent home when I was ready, no complications and, 7 month out and good so far. Highly recommend, plus beautiful town which I was able to see before surgery.

[NO STAR]
I had a very bad experience with this hospital's International Admission Department for a family member, which requires urgent attention and speedy response. What you read about the hospital review here is true. I have no doubt on the doctor's capabilities, but in terms of administration, you'd probably get a stroke from dealing with them.
There are some helpful admin personnel, but my primary case manager is a nightmare.
I first approached them last year for a treatment in September, in which they were very slow in replying and eventually did not get back to me on the cost estimate. I have to search for options and proceeded elsewhere, thanks to their nonchalant attitude.
Fast forward to this year, I have to unfortunately ask for another treatment as the hospital has the particular treatment.
These are only SOME of the issues I am facing with them:
a) They will direct you with different emails, different PIC and no email trails to further confuse you and whoever that is picking up the slack from their team.
b)They reply by copying another email that they have sent you earlier, which you have replied.
c) Some of them do not really answer all your questions. Which you have to ask AGAIN in the next email. I tried to call them and explain in case it was just something lost in translation, but you can hear that they do not really give a hoot.
d) I was sent someone else's cost estimate, which is funny, because they were creating a lot of unnecessary bureaucracy about privacy earlier with the email.
e) I was asked to re-submit a lot of documents. And we had to do some unnecessary tests prior to any indication if the treatment is possible.
f) I guess the champion of it all that I was finally told that they are arranging a video counselling, but was cancelled 3 days later by telling them that they do not have the capacity to do it. In this day and age.
g) The entire conversation of 3 weeks just to gage if treatment is possible was replied with them being under "lockdown". Germany border is currently not closed, so is the state in which they are operating it. Urgent medical cases even allows for quarantine waiver for high risk countries ( in which we are not in ). I can only conclude that they do not want to do the paperwork, and self impose "lockdown".
Just to cover their tracks, the disjointed emails will make it appear that the doctors have just reviewed your case and they cannot accept it. This was an absolutely U-turn from telling us at least one week before that treatment is possible, and no mentioning of any lockdown.
My point is, if you have urgent medical case like mine, please seek somewhere else. It is not worth the anguish , time and pain with their very unprofessional approach.
My suggestion is for them to remove the international patient section from their website, because clearly, they are not adapt to handle them on a professional basis.
All your international patient wants to know immediately is:
1) Can they do the treatment
2) How much
Details can be ironed out.
It shouldn't take 3 weeks of mental torture, to arrive at that - we do not accept international patients due to a "lockdown", moreover an urgent life threatening case.

It's been six years since my father underwent pancreatic cancer surgery at Heidelberg Hospital. Actually it's hard to call it surgery - doctors opened his abdominal cavity and found that they couldn't cut out his tumor. All that happened despite their earlier assurances that they have a high level "know how" and that they are able to do it. Eventually the were able - to take away the remnats of hope...
...for "only" €20000...
