In 2003, Hospital de la Familia, (Family Hospital), was created by a group of doctors seeking a higher standard of medical care that was on demand in the region. Most of the founding doctors where Gynecologists, which brings to the attention that the hospital's main focused in its first years of existence was women services. Hospital de la Mujer, (Women's Hospital), was the hospital's initial name and many locals still call the hospital by that name. In 2004, the hospital decided to expand its services to the entire family, therefore changing its name to Hospital de la Familia. Hospital de la Familia is by far one of the elite hospitals in the city with some of the most recognized surgeons in the region on staff. Because of the proximity to the United States, it's board certified and experienced medical surgeons, high-tech state of the art facility, and a medical tourism department team that’s always available to assist you during your experience; are only a few reasons why Hospital de la Familia is considered one of the top destinations for medical tourism in Mexico.

Thank You to Dr. Ponce, Maritza, Carlo Bonfante, Gabriel and all Nursing Staff! I've never been to Mexico before and going out of the country for cosmetic surgery could bring one huge amounts of anxiety.... The entire staff went out of their way to make sure that I was comfortable from the drive from San Diego to Mexicali and back. Communication was present with everyone even those that didn't speak English used translation apps. The hospital cleanliness was A+. The professionalism and intentional care was phenomenal. After my surgery I was fed a light meal, Carlo took care of the hotel reservations during the surgery, Maritza made sure we picked up whatever medications were needed and kept in contact with me until I was officially settled in my room. She and Carlo checked on me regularly. Any questions or concerns I had she would follow up in a timely manner. Doctor Ponce did an AMAZING job with my surgery and was available to answer ANY questions I had the next day post-op along with providing future communication if I had any other questions or concerns after leaving Mexico. To have my first cosmetic surgery experience be filled with so much quality and love was amazing! 5-STARS!

I want to give zero stars but it’s not possible so I give it a 1 star. I went to Mexico for the very first time to help out a relative while she had cosmetic surgery at this hospital. I thought I was going to have a wonderful experience but sadly I was wrong. I am very shocked and appalled at how rude they were not only to me but to my family member. There are so many things that I can complain about. One of them being how RUDE the nurse who escorted my relative out of the hospital was. She was in so much pain she wasn’t thinking about wearing a mask. The nurse whispered in her ear “ look at her and tell me what you’re missing ” Referring to me and how I was wearing a mask. She was so shocked that it took her a minute to even think about what he had said. Also, it took HOURS for the staff to get me a blanket and pillow while we spent the night in a room. We had one GREAT nurse who was on shift last night but the rest weren’t that great. I had to keep getting someone to empty out the container of blood attached to my relatives insides because all they were doing was talking at the nurses station. I did this 3-5 times. You have to wait 30-45 for something to eat in the cafeteria. This place is unprofessional. I may have not gotten any surgeries done here but if I wanted to it would definitely not be here. OH and they left drops of blood all over the room floor. It was disgusting. The club sandwich is to die for!

I highly recommend anyone who is thinking of having a sort of medical procedure this is the place to have it done. I am over the moon with how well I was treated by not only the nurses and hospital staff but Dr. S, Dr. Mariana, Penelope and Maritza were exceptionally wonderful to work with. I had weight loss revision surgery and could not be happier. I will be going back at some point for plastics. Thank y’all for being so good to me and my mom.
