Policlinico San Donato Research Hospital is a clinical and university research centre accredited by the Italian National Health Service (SSN), home of the Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery, in collaboration with the Università degli Studi di Milano. Founded in 1969 and extending over 50,000 square meters in the south-eastern part of Milan, the multi-specialty healthcare institution is one of the most renowned cardiovascular centres in the Italian landscape today, winning first place as a facility that has provided the largest number of cardiac surgeries in Italy (over 1.500 per year). By putting the well-being and care of the patient and the citizen at the core of its philosophy, and because of its unique and enviable know-how, Policlinico San Donato continues to carry out its mission, guaranteeing its patient the highest level of competence and excellence. Among the various awards it has been accredited with over the years, the hospital was awarded by the Italian Ministry of Health with the title of a Scientific Institute for Research, Hospitalization and Health Care (IRCCS) for its study in the area of diseases of the heart and blood vessels in adults and children. Policlinico San Donato is also home to the Institute of Medical and Surgical Sciences and, since 1998, the Interdepartmental Centre for the Study and Treatment of Cardiovascular Diseases bearing the name ""Edmondo Malan"", it is the second most well-known cardiovascular disease Center in the world. From prenatal diagnosis to rehabilitation, from newborns to the elderly, the medical and nursing staff in our areas of cardiology, heart surgery, vascular surgery and anesthesia offer patients the most appropriate clinical path. Our Arrhythmology and Electrophysiology Center offers the world's most advanced care for the treatment of cardiac arrhythmias. We take care of over 1,000 pediatric patients every year, from the first days of life, and accompany them into adulthood. We are one of the most specialized centers in Europe in the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart disease, with the most advanced techniques in cardiac surgery and interventional cardiology.
