Recurrent pericoronitis treatment in 4 Dentistry clinics in Italy

They requested that I leave a review, so I do so, albeit with some hesitation. I arrived in Florence with a cracked crown and they were very kind in seeing me, extremely quick and accommodating. The office was clean, and their staff was always kind, communicative, and reassuring, for which I am grateful. They were patient when I was indecisive (they convinced me that in paying more for a root canal, I would avoid future pain and sensitivity in the damaged area, and I did ultimately opt to do so, for a total of €1300). Fitting the crown was difficult, as I suspect is the norm, but at some point it seems they nicked on one of my neighboring teeth (or, hopefully, perhaps they left a dab of cement that remains there after over a month), and it required 3-4 different visits to adjust it. Anyway, the crown remained high enough where my other teeth wouldn't touch when I closed my mouth, which was so maddening. The dentist seemed like she didn't really believe me, and I left each time thinking, "OK, maybe I'm just being too sensitive and I'll get used to it." Finally, upon my last visit, the "main" dentist took over with great fanfare, and he was much more thorough, even polishing the surface of the crown, which made it much more comfortable in my mouth (which, by the way, I'm surprised the other dentist never did). Unfortunately, while the fit is better than before, it still does stick out every-so-slightly when I close my mouth, and now hurts when I eat. I'm hoping eventually I will get used to it and the soreness will go away, and I know that they would offer to try to help adjust it again, but after so many tries I just don't see the point anymore. Perhaps I should have articulated myself better when I was there -- I guess it speaks to the limitations of my Italian, or to me not wanting to complain too much -- but at this point after two months, my time in Italy is ending, and will have to visit my old dentist in the USA to see what's up. I wish I didn't have to do so, as it's going to end up costing much more in time and money in the long run, but that was the risk I took. Anyway, I hate to leave a negative review, but that's where I stand now.

We had an emergency whilst we were travelling Italy. It was for both myself, pain & broken tooth, and my wife, pain, infection and possible crown. They booked us in as an emergency and were able to complete the work. Filling for me & tooth removal and implant for my wife. Crown will be inserted when we get back home. They speak English, which made things so much easier & explained the process. They were so professional, friendly, with minimal or no pain, and completed the work whilst we were in Florence. I'm sure the doctors are good, but reception is slow inefficient most of the windows are closed and the few people there are are gossiping with each other instead of accepting patients. I went 3hours early to be sure to have my prebooked Cardiology appointment and arrived at the nurses desk at cardiology an hour before as I needed an ECG. The rude nurse laughed at my booking and asked me if I booked it myself. Yes I answered but I need the booked ECG as that's what is writen on the doctors door. She threw my sheet to one side and said we will call you 45minutes later noone called I went to ask her again. She told me to sit down. They the 4nurses were all chatting together and doing nothing. Super fast, got in with my 1y 7mo daughter who swallowed a plant (brome) that got stuck in her tonsil, went to triage who registered her and 5min later got called in. They checked her lungs and ears properly, then her throat, some other doctor colleagues got called in to help hold the baby, they removed it in 2 minutes, they finished writing up her file and we left. Overall it took 20-25min from when we got in to when we got out. Thank you so much!

As a tourist with a sick child, I'm blessed to be directed by the taxi driver to this hospital. We received great care from Dr. Ferro Valencia, and the staff and fellow patients have been super nice too. Some tips for parents like me who don't understand any Italian: 1. Proceed to the emergency department with a red label, there an English speaking staff will be able to direct you to the right department. For us, we were directed to take COVID test first. 2. At the COVID test location, they actually take notes of your symptoms too, and give you a number. Your remaining visits to different departments will all have this number be called upon. 3. The hospital consists of several buildings with different colored labels. Only the emergency department is labeled red, and also functions as triage. When your number is called again, it is usually the case that you will be directed to a numbered room inside the emergency department. From there if you need to go to another building, they'll tell you the color or have a staff guide you. Not many nurses/staff understand English, but they've all been very nice and helpful. Within each department among 5-6 people, usually at least one person speaks good English. It's a really busy hospital, so the staff/doctors might not be so attentive, but if you reach out, they'll be so helpful.

Rude staff and uncommentable reception.... I had to do rehabilitation but then I was in a small room with two other people, one of whom was very ill and should have been sheltered elsewhere, but instead it was always a huge mess, when I called the nurses at least half an hour passed. now and no worries about turning off the TV at a certain point. I ran away after one day, a nightmare!!! Terrible food and rehabilitation done in the room together with two older people but I didn't see the shadow of a cardiologist, where there was always the person who was very ill..... It goes on only due to conventions... Put the rehabilitation in Papardo!

Visit carried out a year ago for an operation on the hand and still without an answer.. but 90 euros for the visit immediately taken.. very little professionalism from the nurses to the doctors not to mention the switchboard service.. poor!!!

I was admitted to the Rehabilitation Center followed competently by Doctor Ferlazzo. I thank the head nurse Mrs. Rita, all the nurses, physiotherapists and collaborators, for their continuous assistance and availability. The only flaw, contacting the COT is a challenge

An "American" hospital where they cannot even speak two words of English. I thought I had a chest infection and wanted to consult with a professional to hear his or her opinion. The staff was unfortunately not able to help because of the language barrier.
