The National Oncology Institute has been the epidemiological, organizational, methodological, therapeutic, research and educational center of Hungarian oncology for more than half a century. Comparable to the national oncology institute of any country, it is the only comprehensive cancer center in Central and Eastern Europe, with excellent international recognition and a patient satisfaction rate of over 95%. The secret of the Institute is the professional excellence and human integrity of its employees. The Institute's 6 research and 12 clinical departments perform their tasks in highly intellectual and technological conditions. Annually approx. We treat 16,000 new inpatients, we provide 20,000 patients with curative care, and the outpatient traffic is close to 500,000. The quality of the scientific research work is characterized by the cumulative impact factor of over 600 per year, the many hundreds of domestic and foreign publications, presentations, the training of clinical oncologists and radiation therapists, and the continuing medical training organized for the entire Hungarian oncology sector, as well as professional and textbooks that fill gaps. The institute's scientific relations extend to leading cancer institutes on three continents. The Institute developed, maintains and internationally qualified the Hungarian National Cancer Control Program, which set the direction of development of Hungarian oncology in the past decade and was the basis for the oncology chapters of public health government programs. The Institute accepted and maintains the National Cancer Registry. The Institute constantly deals with the current issues of the structure and activities of Hungarian oncology, and considers the support of universities and hospitals, the Professional College, the Hungarian Anti-Cancer League, and several other professional and social associations to be its duty.
