About clinic

Since opening our doors 88 years ago, Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital has grown from a small community facility to a 332-bed, not-for-profit hospital. Our mission is to provide exceptional, patient-centered, evidence-based healthcare. We combine world-class clinical expertise with extraordinary technology and compassion. We’ve been designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care and Knee and Hip Replacement by Florida Blue and awarded the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval. This recognition – and more – have been achieved through a shared vision of our team, whose satisfaction comes from improving the health and well-being of our community.

I went to the emergency room for swollen ankles, which my wife was convinced was DVT from a plane trip. It turned out that it was super-high blood pressure. They saw me immediately, with a less than 10 minute wait. I had to wait around for about six hours until the medication they gave me lowered my blood pressure to safe levels, but that was understandable under the circumstances. All-in-all a very reasonable ER visit. The staff was pleasant, competent, and attentive. No complaints. I've been in some far worse ER rooms, but very few that were better.

This was going to be a 1 star initially. My wife had two surgeries this past week on Tuesday and Thursday. The Tuesday experience was horrifying due to being bumped back several times. To make it worse I reiterated to the staff that due to a back condition my wife was unable to get dressed without assistance and they assured me they would take care of it. When I was brought back to see her she wasn't in her bay in recovery and I was told she was in the bathroom getting dressed. I went to the bathroom and found her almost on the floor due to her condition combined with anesthesia. When we returned Thursday for back surgery I refused to let her stay in this facility post op. I spoke with her neurologist after surgery and he spoke with the supervisor of the department. Keep in mind not one call had been returned about our complaint from Tuesday. I was initially told I wasn't allowed to see her, but Louis brought me back to see her. I spent some time with her and Louis took me to Steve who is the supervisor of the department. We collectively spoke and Steve had to take a call regarding the matter from his administrator. We went over everything and my wife was given the best possible care after our conversation. Sometimes an error needs to be pointed out and when it was it was definitely met with positive feedback and follow through. Louis called me the next morning early because he went to her floor before reporting to his. That's service!!

Horrible. Horrible experience!! If at all possible avoid this ER. Thought I was doing the right thing by calling 911 for my mother in order to have her seen asap.that might have been the case… but don’t plan on going back to be with your family member. Seriously! Insane the way I was treated. I begged everyone I could to please let me back there to be with my 78 yo mother. “Sorry.. not protocol” zero care from anyone I spoke to. No one cared that my mom was crying for me. They all just kept telling me it’s protocol to wait for an assigned doctor, that they were extremely busy. Well.. I keep pressing the issue and was finally allowed back. To an empty room, almost empty ER.. zero doctors around. Not busy as all. Disgusting the way I was treated. Horrible They literally coukd care less. I’m sick to my stomach over how bad it went down
