HSC Blumenau was born from a big dream. A dream that was only possible to come true with the valuable collaboration of the people of Blumenau. Despite some adversities encountered along the way, on June 27, 1920, the Lutheran Community inaugurated the Hospital, with 50 beds, one unit for men and another for women, and care under the responsibility of German deaconesses. Today, the Hospital has a built area of more than 21 thousand square meters. There are 152 inpatient beds, including 20 Adult ICU beds, 10 Neonatal and Pediatric ICU beds (NEOPED-ICU), 18 Mental Health Clinic beds, six operating rooms and 15 suites, including a master. In all, there are around 1,000 employees – 40% of whom are from the nursing team – and 400 doctors working in the Clinical Staff in 46 specialties. On average, per month, HSC Blumenau performs 3,500 calls at the Emergency Room and 750 hospitalizations. In addition, around 600 surgeries are performed.

As a student, I was always welcomed by hospital professionals, especially for admission to the hospital. However, after some changes at the hospital, there is a DISTURBANCE with students, delaying our entry and jeopardizing our classes at the hospital. I write this evaluation with great regret, as it is a reference hospital, we students expected more respect and not the treatment we are receiving lately. Unfortunate. I can cite two examples that occurred to me recently. First, I had to wait more than 1h30 to enter the hospital and I missed to see a surgery. Second, due to the delay of the reception staff, my group and I had to miss 30 minutes of class!!!
