Eye cancer treatment in 526 Oncology clinics worldwide

My husband recently had spinal fusion surgery at the hospital. There are so many great things about this hospital, but other things that need improvement. First of all, Cristina, in admissions is wonderful. She speaks perfect English (a huge bonus as my Spanish is basic) and she's extremely thorough and caring. The pre and post op care was also amazing. The hospital rooms are huge, with English TV stations and the accommodations are quite comfortable. Most of the staff (nurses, aides, etc...) are also very caring individuals. What didn't go so great is: (1) At check in we were given the rules of the hospital which requires a family member to be with the patient 24/7. This should be given in advance as we had to scramble to get a dog sitter. (2) Cristina, in admissions, asked us what we had been quoted for the procedure. This is something the hospital should already have, and in the end we were charged almost 23,000 pesos for the hospital's surcharge on the titanium metal used to fuse my husband's neck. Basically, the corkage fee for the metal to enter their hospital. We were not told about this by the doctor who gave us the quote. (3) Most of the nursing staff was great but some would let me husband's IV's run dry with alarms going off. This would cause them to come in and run saline solutions through the line which was a bit painful. When I'd go to see why the nurses had not responded to the IV alarms or our pushing the call buttons, they'd just be hanging around the nursing station. (4) Discharge was a traffic jam. The doctor said we could leave around 10:30 and that the bill was ready. I went to the nursing station to inquire and the sent me to the "caja" (cashier) downstairs who told me it wasn't ready yet so went back to the room and waited 2 hours until I finally went back to the nurses stations and requested someone who spoke English to come talk to me. After that, it finally got finished and delivered an hour later. All in all, a good hospital experience but if they are going to try and market to expats and wealthy individuals, there are many kinks in their system that they need to work out.

Very professional, clean hospital with caring nurses, doctors and entire staff. You don't feel like you are in a hospital in terms of decoration, environment and even the smell. I had an operation and was taken care of really perfect. Can not thank you guys enough. More than 5 ⭐. ( There are also many doctor offices on the upper floors which my doctors were too. My husband need to see another specialist so it was so convenient. The laboratory works perfect too. All in 1!)

Top class hospital with lots of doctor's offices upstairs. Plus there's a frozen yogurt place out front.

I'm really upset with the hospital because before I was discharged they gave me the antibiotic and painkiller medication many hours before I was due to make my bill bigger and they went over the insurance budget and they didn't let me see the breakdown Disastrous administrative staff

What a lack of professionalism: - nurses calling each other “amiga” while tending patients in their rooms - residents and nurses rushing into the patients rooms disregarding any privacy and without any education to greet anyone in the room - nurses setting up a workstation in the rooms hallway, meaning they have no respect for patients or visitors need for peace and quiet - poor facilities and lack of maintenance

In general, it is a good service that is provided, with the exception of a nurse who, without having any idea of ​​how to channel, gave my wife her arm with a huge bruise. The staff is very friendly and the facilities are clean and comfortable. The dark one in the rice is the cashier staff, who get annoyed just because, after almost five hours of having discharged a patient, they go to ask them if the documentation to pay is already there. Without any kindness they answer curtly: we are checking, we will call you.

It was a great experience! From the gate to medical care, I was treated very well. Initially, I received information that the expected wait would be two hours and I decided to stay calm, settle in and wait. The important thing was to have already gotten there. After all, everything that seems bad can certainly get worse! So, everything worked out! The doctor on duty is super TOP, attentive, very assertive for her young age. The nursing technician Arnaldo with the hand of an angel that I didn't even feel the discomfort of access. I went to the hospital a few times, both for consultation and emergency. What I can say is that the Hospital is very organized, has very well trained staff, I have always received very good service on the phone. I saw a lot of people criticizing here and I decided to tell my positive experience, it doesn't mean that I didn't encounter problems, such as a consultation that took 2 hours to wait, but in this case it was an isolated professional, I don't believe that the hospital itself is bad, but Like everywhere, there are good people and others not. The rating I give is 5 stars, as most of the staff are attentive, careful and the structure is excellent! In short, Hospital Santa Joana is of excellent quality, has very well-trained staff, they answer the phone and answer your questions very carefully. I had to take my 3 year old daughter to the pediatric emergency room and unfortunately I experienced racism from the first contact with the doctor asking me if I was the mother, because my daughter was white. I've never seen a children's professional not interacting with the child, not conditioning, nothing... Super rude, cold, indifferent. I observed her serving a white family and it was totally different. I felt violated. I don't recommend Santa Joana!

Didn’t have nice experience in this hospital at all! Although the doctors and nurses (some of them) were super nice we spent altogether 13 hours in the general surgery ward in the 5th floor and all they did in this time is took blood and urine analysis and did ultrasound diagnostic. It was 37 degrees outside and the person in pain did not drink or eat all this time!!! When I went arguing with them it turned out that the result was long time ready, they just didn’t feel like calling us, of course the reason of pain wasn’t found and we were sent home without any treatment or diagnosis. Not only they left the person in pain they MADE him wait the whole day after which he got worse.

I was referred by my family doctor with a problem related to water balance. I spent two days in the internal medicine department on the 4th floor of building B as an ambulatory patient. The four stars are because, despite the circumstances, the nurses and doctors stayed where they are and try to make the best of the situation, but it cannot be denied that the conditions are terrible. The department can only provide three meals a day, which is surprisingly good compared to the conditions, bedding, a bed, depending on the supply, infusion and adult diapers, medical examinations, water and electricity. Everything else must be brought, including toilet paper, bottled water, cutlery, hand soap, and towels. As an outpatient, for a short time, for a complete examination, it is worth it, but not for an incontinent patient, and I definitely do not recommend hospitalization for an incontinent AND problematic patient. Several people wrote that the nurses do not deal with the patients, are not helpful and treat the patients like prisoners. Yes, this is true in many cases, but personally, if I had to work in such conditions, for such wages, I would behave in the same way, if not worse.

The worst hospital that anyone can go to. I have no idea why the emergency reception is like this. I went there with a bad situation and I had to wait a couple of hours to be visited by a doctor. It's really funny how the situation is like there. Unfortunately, there are not many options in the city when you get sick during the weekend ie Saturday. At first, I went to the med campus and they said the only option is this hospital. After a couple of hours of waiting my condition got worse and I decided to come back home. Just go there if you are about to die otherwise staying at home is much better.

We went on a saturday morning for an urgency and received medical attention in less than 20 minutes, everyone was very polite and professional

Hospitals should hire more suitable doctors. In my opinion, clinics that deal with sensitive things, where patient has take off their clothes when required, there should be male and female doctors. Because not many people feel comfortable having to undress to be examined by a doctor of the opposite gender. Also there are many cases that the docter is not doing what he should do.

I was here for my first operation. I was a bit nervous, but all the staff made me feel at ease. Couldn't fault a thing. Operation went well, aftercare all organised.

I couldnt have asked for better care from the time i arrived until i left. Staff right down to kitchen were so kind and professional. Thankyou so much.

I have just got home from a 3 night stay at Southern Cross Hospital in Wellington after a scheduled operation. I was blown away by the skill, care, attentiveness, professionalism, kindness and generosity shown by ALL the staff. It was very conducive to facilitating a fantastic recovery. The food was wholesome & delicious and I wanted for nothing. They were welcoming and relaxed as other family members visited and I am so grateful to have had the pleasure of such fine care...and very pleased I didn't cancel my private health insurance when I was about to need it the most! Thank you all :)

A shame from the moment you enter, I was splitting with pain, the woman who was at the reception had 0 empathy, like the nurse who treated me, I used to find more service vocation in a veterinarian. A question that came from the pain that I couldn't even stand on my feet, this woman at the reception doesn't even flinch but tells me THAT THE MASK IS MANDATORY (we're already off to a bad start) she had me for 10 minutes asking me questions, she gives me the ticket to wait for triage, The place already had 20 people waiting..... 10 minutes pass, my husband still comes to triage saying that I couldn't take any more of the pain, and to my surprise it wasn't even in the system. Yesterday I was with my daughter for an ultrasound in the mother's unit, room S-17. My appointment was at 11:48. I was treated by an excellent professional. I was greatly surprised by his professionalism, empathy, and gratitude for his treatment of my daughter. Same as nurses and other professionals. This is the real reason for being doctors to put themselves in the patient's shoes. I don't know what the doctor's name was, thank you for being such a great professional. !!!!Thank you so much!!!!.

It would be nice to start doing something with the parking spaces, there are few of them, drivers stand where they shouldn't and block the passage of ambulances. The institution itself is great, but due to the ill-conceived parking for so many people, I give it 3*.

There's a good people and there's a very bad people, but the hospital has to make a Training courses for workers to deal with patients and should be attention to patients' complaints. I wonder how a kind docteur like Dr Ilenko Anna has a secretary like that🤷🏻‍♀️ her secretary is a very tough person😬 Violent, aggressive👽 and attacker😡 She does not respect the patients😡 and believes that they are her slaves😈 and that she works for free not for money, and that she works in her own institution or in her home.

Treated at the old Peter Mac many years ago and it was beyond excellent. But my experience at the new Peter Mac includes a lost referral, lost history, lost blood results, lost u/s results, relevant medication information not given, existing medical conditions potentially impacted by proposed treatment not considered or discussed, and incorrect information documented that contradicts what my GP sent to them AND which contradicts reports from when I was there before!. Trying to get it sorted out - impossible.

Subjected to absolutely disgusting treatment at this hospital. Elective Surgery Manager was rude , terse and has no people skills what so ever. As expected when I lodged a request for explanation the Cancer Surgery Manager chose to disregard key facts and dismissed me completely. Patients aren’t just Medicare numbers . Avoid this hospital at all costs .

The peter mac staff are all awesome from the security and domestic staff to the teams of surgeons and nurses who helped me through the whipple procedure i had back on 15th March . I cant say thankyou enough. The ongoing post operation treatment has also been fantastic.

It is not possible to communicate to schedule an appointment. With so much advanced technology and they do not even have a telephone line available to contact them.

I can't thank all the staff at The Christie enough. I had a minor procedure with them and during my time there felt truly cared for and supported. I was kept up to date every step of the way, my doctor and the nurses all listened to me, answered questions and I'll be forever grateful for their help!

I cannot praise The Christie too much. Although I'd rather not have to visit there, the amazing team make it so much easier and I actually look forward to seeing them. They are efficient, caring, compassionate, honest and help me so much. If I want to talk, someone is always available, my specialist nurse always gets back to me if I have an issue or need results. Dr. Bartlett and his staff were timely, professional, and courteous. The procedure was performed flawlessly and he kept the mood positive and humorous.

Want to give a shout out to the nurses and staff on the 17th floor. I was briefly there this past Thursday to pick up my uncle Juan who received treatment. It felt very welcoming and calm on the floor. I am assuming that they were nurses (I apologize if they’re not) as they were sitting in the central location and also running around taking care of patients. When we asked for a wheelchairs, they processed the request with a smile. One of the folks even asked how my day was going and asked about the Buffalo Bills. I know this may sound small but it’s the little things that can make a difference. I had some anxiety coming to visit and was exhausted from my 8 hour drive to get here, but all that went away when I entered the 17th floor of this hospital.

The nurses, admin team, patient care team I have no complaints about. I dread thinking how the doctors here have handled my Dads care since the very beginning of his AML diagnosis in April. To begin when he was initially admitted, he received his chemo and was discharged with oral meds that he was told to keep taking upon going home. Doing some basic internet research we discovered he was taking the meds for 20 days longer than he was supposed to. We had a teledoc visit with his doctor, she described it as a “misscommunication” and that he indeed took it weeks longer than he was supposed to. Also during this period, he was doing outpatient in New Jersey and never had any follow up from his doctor until weeks after discharge his initial diagnosis. I do not think this is standard. He was discharged with no Oncology follow ups scheduled or anything. When we finally did talk to his Doctor she said to move to a clinical trial that had not been successful on anyone, nor was it even available. She gave him more chemo that did not make any progress towards treating his disease. To say she was hands off is an understatement. I personally messaged about clinical trials that had success with patients with similar diagnosis and subtypes. We were told to reach out to hospitals that had them while she continuously kept stringing my father along without any real plan besides what was already not working. I asked about transplants she said it could kill him, now they have no viable plan as the chemo and lung issues (related) are too much to overcome. I continue to seek treatments for him. In short, I feel like we experienced a 1980s treatment plan, with no creativity or critical thinking applied to treating my Dad. He is a number to (most) of the doctors. They also will scheduled him for blood transfusions once a week on outpatient when he got them daily in the hospital. Extremely frustrating. Their bedside manner was also… abysmal. Offered little hope this whole time and didnt give confidence to other centers that would have been more capable in treating him. I would not recommend MSKCC and wished he went somewhere like Mayo or MD Anderson. Maybe they can be helpful for more straightforward treatment plans, but my Dad has a very rare subtype that made it complicated. Several doctors come off as thinking they are the end all be all of what is known about my father’s disease. Newsflash - we’re all capable of reading studies that show efficacy of treatments but your heads are too far up your own you know wheres to listen to family. They also give off a vibe of thinking they are the Almighty as well and it breaks my heart to see how they spoke to him and how it affects his mood, graces, and personal outlook.

Even though I don't speak Hungarian, I felt very well looked after in this hospital. Very good doctors and the care was friendly, professional, pleasant - my highlight was of course the English-speaking nurse. I only have good memories!

I was on vacation in Paris and was taken here with excruciating & sudden stomach pain. I had to have an emergency surgery to remove part of my large intestine due to a twist - or a “volvulous”. I was kept in the emergency waiting room overnight- part of the night in an empty hallway- with pain so severe that I almost fainted several times. I was certain I was going to die because I didn’t know if anyone would notice if I lost consciousness. The nurses and doctors I spoke with told me “we will come back with pain medication” but hours went by without seeing anyone again. Almost no one spoke English. I was terrified and traumatized. I would give this hospital 0 stars, HOWEVER. Once I got into surgery, the doctors were kind to me. I was crying quite a bit and they calmed me down and played music for me. The surgery went well, and I obviously survived without complications. I feel so grateful they caught the twist and operated on me within 16 hours of me being there. They did save my life. I don’t know who is reading this and if you are considering going here, but try to go to the American hospital if at all possible. I hope you get the care you need and deserve. Do not expect nurses there to care for you like nurses do in America.

Decent if you need urgent help. Extremely unhelpful staff in the registration desk, was told “you’re in france, speak french” after I asked them if they spoke English. The hospital felt very dirty and the waiting room was a chaos. Other than a long waiting time for non-priority cases, the care was acceptable.

I was just severely hurt by the staff member pictured here at emergency. I came in anxious and stressed about my condition. They were only meant to be checking my temperature in my ear but he did so forcibly it hurt me so bad, it gave me a panic attack. Then when I said something I was screamed at in French. I will be contacting a lawyer.

1 star only because the examination took place. The appointment was scheduled for 3.50 p.m.... The lady told me to arrive at 3.30 p.m. and I went in for the examination at 4.20 p.m.... no information about the delay... no help and no information during registration and how to fill out the documents... .

I wholeheartedly advise against visiting Mrs. Zofia Jamrozik-Kruk. The doctor is so rude that it's not worth talking to. The whole visit had a very pretentious tone, and let's not forget that we come to the doctor for help, not as specialists who should know everything at the door.
